It was something that we had to do because of lifestyle changes that we'll be making as a family over this year, and unfortunately Max would have been miserable as we have to give up the big backyard and dog-friendly suburb.
He's now a member of a young family in Kambah, with a small dog named Millie and two toddlers to play with. He seems to have developed a liking for the family when he left, which is typical of Max, since he's fine as long as there's people to love him.
Now, I have to wait until his endearing doggie scent around the place fades before I stop being reminded of him.
